Queen Silvia ja maailman kauneinta postia

Huh, kaikennäköstä ollut pitkin kesää. Tuossa "joutessani" kirjoitin Tekstiiliopettaja-lehteen artikkelin koulukäsityön kiireellisyydestä. Juttu on seuraavassa numerossa, ilmestynee syyskuun alussa kait? Kandikin lojuu mukavasti pöytälaatikossa, vähän kysymyslomakkeen teko tökkii... Miten se voikin olla niin vaikeaa ja kohta tulee kiire kyseisen homman kanssa. Kait sekin sitten viimeisenä iltana kuten tämä: 

I have been surprisingly busy lately... With "all my spare time" I wrote an article into a Finnish magazine about craft hours in schools. And my bachelor's degree is still waiting to be finished in my desk drawer. Maybe I'll write it on the last night like I did this one:

Äiti täytti pyöreitä ja hänelle lahjaksi tekaisin pitsihuivin ja mikä muu olisikaan ollut sopivampi kuin Kuningatar Silvia. Virheitä huivista löytyy ainakin yhtä paljon kuin kyseisestä kuningasperheestä, tai ehkä jopa enemmän :) Hyvissä ajoin aloitin maaliskuussa, mutta tietenkin aloitin tämän oikeasti vasta juhannuksen tienoilla ja sitten tätä saikin neuloa kädet verillä öitä möiten... Oli mulla kyllä pari mallikertaa jo neulottu ennen juhannusta! Mutta valmista tuli, juhlia edeltävänä yönä kello kaksi aloin huivia asettamaan sileytykseen. Että ihan ajoissahan se, hehheh. Hyvin tyytyväinen olen. Ja äiti pitää pakottaa tätä pitämään, kun ei kuitenkaan raaski.

My mother had a big birthday, so what else could have been more perfect present than the Queen Silvia Shawl. There are as many flaws -or most likely much more- in the shawl as The Swedish Royal Family has ;) I started to knit this very much on time, in March, but I really started this round The Midsummer :) I had to knit this every day and night so that my hands were nearly broken. Well, I had a couple of charts knitted before The Midsummer! At two o'clock the night before the birthday party I finished this. So I had plenty of time left. I'm very happy and I have to force my mother to wear this :)

Huiviin tilasin Etsystä  GardenOfWeedinGirliltä huivineulan eli -puikon. (Ja samalla itselle pari, krhm...) Paketti olikin maailman kauneinta postia mitä olen ikinä saanut! Ja huivineula sopii äidille ja huiviin kuin nakutettu. Harmi vaan että unohdin juhlahumussa kuvata kyseisen huivin neuloineen päivineen.

With the shawl I ordered from Etsy a shawl pin from GardenOfWeedinGril. (Maybe I ordered a couple for myself too...) When the package arrived, it was the most beautiful mail that I've ever got! And the shawl pin is the most perfect for mother. Shame on me that I forgot to take a photo on the party the shawl (and pin) on my mother's shoulders. 

Lisäksi vielä omasta juhla-asusta kuva. Hameessa on halkio vasemman reiden keskellä. Oma design ja ompelu, vuoden takaisia koulujuttuja, kun piti ommella kauluspaita ja hame. Enpä vain ole päässyt tätä käyttämään vielä ja sen kyllä huomasi kun hameen veti päälle, muutama kesäkilo tainnut tulla lisää. Eikun nehän olikin lihaksia! :D

And for the last, here's a photo of my dress. I designed and sewed it a year ago, it was one of my courses where we had to sew a shirt and skirt. And I have never wore this and I certainly noticed it when I pulled the skirt on. Maybe too many ice creams... Or is it just muscles? I prefer the last option :D

Kilokaupalla iloa

Tänä keväänä meidän yhtenä kurssitehtävänä on valmistaa urheilu/vapaa-ajan asu. Ideana siis tehdä housut ja hihallinen yläosa ja joustavaa materiaalia pitää käyttää jossakin vaatekappaleessa. Itse aion tehdä haalarin ja hupparin. Niiden muoto ei vielä ihan täysin ole selvillä, mutta eiköhän se tästä piakkoin selkene. Ainakin kaavoja pitäisi jo kuositella kovaa vauhtia... 

Ystävä vinkkas, että Hyvinkäällä on loistava kankaiden varastomyymälä, mistä saa on runsaasti trikoo- ja ulkoilukankaita. Teimme siis retken sinne ja voi sitä kankaiden määrää ja väriloistoa!

This spring I have to design and sew some sport/outdoor costume in one of my courses at the university. The idea is to fabricate some costume which includes pants and some shirt with sleeves. I'm going to sew some kind of overall and a sweater. I haven't finished designs yet, but I think it's going to be ready soon... At least I should be drawing patterns already... 

A friend of mine told that in a town nearby, Hyvinkää, is a warehouse store where you can buy all kind of tricot and outdoor fabrics. So we drove there and fabrics there surely were! And so colorful!

Ensin ajattelin turkoosia tai sähkönsinistä, mutta yllättäen ostinkin vihreää ja ruskeaa, värejä joita en käytä ollenkaan. Tosin on minulla muutama kirkas vihreä vaatekappale, joten eiköhän näillekin sitten käyttöä tule, jos työ vain onnistuu haluamallani tavalla. Onhan se hyvä vaihtaa väriäkin välillä, ettei elo käy liian tylsäksi :)

First I was meant to buy some turquoise/electric blue, but ended up with green and brown. Colors, which I never use. But I do have some bright green clothes so I think I will use my overall and sweater only if I succeed to make them as I have imagined them in my head.  And it's good to change color sometimes, so that life wouldn't be too boring :) 

Kaupassa oli myös todella ihania puuvillakankaita, joita olisi tehnyt mieli ostaa vaikka mitä. Etenkin lasten vaatteita ajatellen. Tuo pallokangas onkin tarkoitettu yhteen sellaiseen. Kyseisessä liikeessä tosin jokaista kangasta pitää ostaa metri (resoria 0,5 m), joten budjetti tulee nopeasti vastaan. Näille kankaille ainakin löytyy ihan riittävästi projekteja näin aluksi.

In the store there were cool cottonfabrics as well, especially for children's clothes. That dotfabric is of those. The "negative" side is, that you have to buy at least one meter (ripping 0,5 m) each fabric so the budget is pretty soon used. But I have use at least all of these fabrics for now.

Tuosta turkoosista resorista teinkin jo resorin siskontytön hameeseen. Hame on tehty omasta vanhasta topistani, josta leikkasin vain ylöosan pois ja ompelin tilalle resorin. Jälkikäteen ajatellen tuli mieleen, että resorin sisälle olisi voinut laittaa myös kuminauhan, mutta saahan sen sinne vielä ommeltua.

I sew already a ripping for my niece's skirt about that turquoise ripping. The fabric os the skirt is my old top. I just cut the top of the top off and sew the ripping instead. Afterwards I thought that I should have sew inside the ripping an elastic band, but that isn't a big thing to change.

Lanka tuossa kangaspinon päällä on Kollage Yarnsin Riveting, jonka tilasin Titityyltä. Langalle on projekti jo valmiina mietittynä, jahka näiltä muilta projekteilta ehtii. Lanka on kierrätettyä lankaa, eli vanhoista farkuista tehtyä puuvillalankaa. Se tuoksuukin ihan farkuilta. Itse olen farkkujen suurkuluttaja, talvisin en muuta käytäkään. Minulla lojui paritkymmenet farkut odottaen kierrätykseen menoa, mutta en vain saanut niitä aikaiseksi viedä ja nyt minulla onkin niistä monta projektia mietittynä ja paria juttua olen jo aloittanut. Toinen on hieman haasteellisempi ja aikaa vievä, joten se on jäänyt vähän syrjään, odotan taas inspiraatiota. Ennen kesää se olisi tarkoitus kuitenkin saada valmiiksi...

The yarn on the top of the fabrics is Riveting from Kollage Yarns. I ordered it from Titityy. I have a project for that yarn, just after I have finished few of ongoing projects. The yarn is recycled cottonyarn and made out old jeans. It smells like jeans as well. I'm a huge fan of jeans, in wintertime I don't use any other pants.

I had about 20 jeans waiting for taking them to recycling for a couple of years, but I was too lazy to get rid of them. Now I have many projects in my mind about those and I have even started a couple of projects. One of them is a bit challenging and I haven't done it, just waiting for the new inspiration to come. I'm going to finish it before summer though...
